The classic smokey eye never goes out of style and suits everyone. Look at the subtle tones in your eyes that you want to bring out and choose shades similar to those. If you're unsure which color to use, look for an eye shadow set that includes three or four complementary colors. Tightline the inside rims of your eyes to add extra darkness.

Keep the rest of your makeup to the very minimum as this is a pretty heavy smokey eye. Next, follow the line back over the crease of the eye towards the inner corner. The intensity of natural brown eyes varies from person to person, so it's important to tell which colors look outstanding on you and which ones make your eyes look dull.

If you have a cool complexion, dust your eyelids with a dark gray eyeshadow. With this shade I am only going to apply it to my outer corners of my eye, and blending it in to my crease colors a little bit. Take a deep blue shadow and create a subtle V-shape at the outer corners of the eyes.

Next up, line your lower lash line with black eyeliner and then smudge it ever so slightly to achieve a smoky effect. Using a flat brush, cover your eyelid with the nude eyeshadow as a base and so your rose gold pops out. I made my brush wet before dipping it into the shadow, to give the color extra intensity as I was applying it. Im using this color over my lid, and under the crease, but blending upward into the crease so the colors blend together naturally.

With a black eyeliner pencil, color your eyelid leaving a gap at the center, as seen in the image. I've picked up a smaller, round eyeshadow brush for this shade, because I don't want this color in as much area as the previous colors. Follow this up with a lighter color and apply it all over the eyelid, ending right beneath the crease.

Using a pale nude color, fill in the entire eyelid, even covering the crease. On the center, apply a copper shade of eyeshadow and blend the harsh edges out with a blending brush, taking the color outwards. Use a brush to smudge the black shadow to create a smokey effect.

It gives me a smooth, even base to work from when I am applying my eyeshadow. Put your darkest color along the lashline. Tightline the inner rim of your lash line nearest your tear duct by your nose with a white eyeliner pencil. For the crease, use the blush pink eyeshadow.

For more of a cool-toned, brown smokey eye, opt for shades of brown that have a taupe or grey undertone to them. You can use a bold black liquid liner for a dramatic look or, for a softer look, a deep brown pencil is also a great match. Take another very small, soft brush and gently blend the two eyeshadow liner colors together under your lashline.
